「おかえりプロジェクト」展は、3月に岩手県立美術館で開催ののち、
4月に大船渡市民文化会館で開催、被災地のみなさまへアルバムが届けられる予定です。

After these exhibitions, your albums will be presented to suffered people.

写真洗浄ボランティアに参加して Experiencing photo cleaning as a volunteer

被災地の大船渡など各地で、被災写真の救済・洗浄活動が行われています。

富士フイルム株式会社は、水や泥で汚れた写真プリント・アルバムを洗浄し、持ち主を探す活動を支援する"写真救済プロジェクト"を行っています。これまでに約60か所の避難所などを訪問し、物資の提供や洗浄指導を行ったほか、より多くの被災者への写真返還方法の改良などを行っておられます。

東京のアートセンター3331 Arts Chiyodaで行われたワークショップに参加しました。写真を洗浄して干すことと、乾いた写真をポケットアルバムに入れて、内容がわかるようにする作業をそれぞれ別々の日に行いました。

写真洗浄ボランティアを体験したM.K.さんは、写真の意味を考えたといいます。どの写真もみんな笑っていて、”写真はハッピーなときにしか撮らない”と、改めて気づいたそうです。

Many people in and around Ofunato have been involved in the cleaning activity of the photo prints damaged with seawater or mud.

FUJIFILM Corporation promotes "Photo Rescue Projecct" to give support for cleaning damaged photo prints and photo albums. They have visited around 60 evacuation centres in order to provide goods and guidance about photo cleaning, and to improve the method for returning photos to victim of the disaster.

Their workshops have been held at 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo. Volunteers have been engaged in cleaning and drying photo prints and in setting the prints into easily-made albums.

Miki, a volunteer who joined a session says;

"I've been to photo cleaning volunteer to clean photos lost and damaged by tsunami. They are photos from wedding, family gathering, kid's birthday .. I noticed that We take photos when we are happy. We don't take photos when we are sad. So photo = happy. isn't it interesting?"

ユメノマチ Yume No Machi (Dream town)

おかえりプロジェクトが開催される岩手県立美術館では、震災後全ての企画展を中止して予算を復興支援に回し、この状況でもできることをしたいとアートを被災地へ届ける「あーとキャラバン」活動をされています。その成果でもある「アートデオヤコ拡大版『ユメノマチ』ができるまで」がグランドギャラリーで展示されています。私たちの「おかえりプロジェクト」もこのギャラリーに展示される予定です。「ユメノマチ」と世界中で作られているアルバムが出会うまで、まだまだつながり広がって行きます。

Okaeri Albums will be exhibited in the grand gallery, Iwate Museum of Art.

Iwate has been severely affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami. After the earthquake, the museum shifted budget to reconstruction support by canceling all originally planned exhibitions.

The museum has been proactive in 'Art caravan", an outreach programme delivering art projects to the disaster area.
　"Until 'Yume no machi (Dream town)' appears" is one of the programme's outcome currently exhibited in the grand gallery. More and more, linkage is expanding until the albums from many parts of the world meet the 'Yume no machi'.

交差式製本のおかえりノート Notebooks dedicated to Okaeri Project

10月27日より11月3日まで、神田古本まつりの一角で倶楽部の運営委員の有志によるルリユールの本棚展を開催しました。期間中、おかえりプロジェクトの宣伝を兼ねて、交差式製本によるノート作りの実演販売をいたしました。3時間ほどの実演時間に作れるのは、１～4点くらい。52点、完売しました。

このノートを買ってくださった方たちも「おかえりプロジェクト」の参加者です！

Some committee members of the Tokyo Bookbinding Club exhibited their works at the bookbinding exhibition'Bookshelf "Reliure" ' held from Oct.27 to Nov.3 as a part of Secondhand Book Fair in Kanda.
During the exhibition, demonstrations of crossed structure binding were held in order to raise awareness of the Okaeri Project. We made 1 to 4 notebooks at a time. 52 of them were all sold and the sales goes to the Okaeri Project.

People who kindly bought the notebooks are contributing to the Okaeri Project!

写真サイズ Size of Picture

上の写真はヨーロッパサイズ、2010年11月の毛越寺、浄土庭園、
下の写真はL版、同日、満開の菊。

今回のプロジェクトでは、制作するアルバムのデザイン、素材、仕様、サイズは制作者に任されています。

そこで、アルバムサイズを決めやすいように、救出される写真の大きさを現場で作業している金野さんに聞きました。
その結果、やはりL判（89×127mm）と呼ばれる大きさのものが一番多いことがわかり、募集案内に記載することにしました。
L判は、ヨーロッパでよく使われている写真より小さなサイズです。

そして、結婚式で撮る記念写真も救出される写真に多くみられるとのことで、

六つ切りサイズ（203×254mm）が入る大きさも提案することにしました。

In this project, photo album's design, material, specifications and size are left to the individual's discretion.

According to Ms.Kinno, one of our members who is also working on a photo relief project,
the majority of the rescued photos are Japan's standard size (89x127mm).
This is smaller than usual photo in Europe.

Many commemorative photographs such as wedding photos have been rescued, too.
Thus, albums for the bigger photos (203x254mm) are also welcomed!

We sincerely appreciate many interests and participations for “OKAERI PROJECT”.

Until November 15, we have received the entry of making photo albums from 212 persons in fourteen countries, and the supportive donation from 27 persons all over the world.

In next March, one year after the terrible disaster, all albums will arrive in Iwate, the north east area of Japan.

These albums will be exhibited in the IWATE MUSEUM OF ART, from March 3, 2012.

Please expect to meet various and wonderful albums.

We will make our best efforts to bring your kind contribution and warm cheer to suffered people.
